As the world celebrates "Christmas", with it's lights, music, dance, food & drink, let us look at what the Word of God says about the way of the world. This article is not intended to offend anyone, but only to facilitate the Word of God. Above is Vatican City, displaying a grand Christmas tree with lights just as the world does. you may ask, what is the big deal? it's just a Christmas tree!

Let's look at the Word of God, to see what God tell us. Jeremiah 10:1-5:

" Hear the word which the LORD speaks to you, O house of Israel. Thus says the LORD: “ Do not learn the way of the Gentiles; Do not be dismayed at the signs of heaven, For the Gentiles are dismayed at them. For the customs of the peoples are futile; For one cuts a tree from the forest, The work of the hands of the workman, with the ax. They decorate it with silver and gold; They fasten it with nails and hammers So that it will not topple. They are upright, like a palm tree, And they cannot speak; They must be carried, Because they cannot go by themselves. Do not be afraid of them, For they cannot do evil, Nor can they do any good.”

In looking at the above passage we see that it's talking about the ways of the world and a tree. The Lord, tell us "DO NOT LEARN THE WAY OF THE GENTILES". The Lord, doesn't tell us if we want, no He say "DO NOT". This is the first test of a believer obedience. You may say " My Church has a tree "! and its a Christan Church. This does not make them exempt to the Lord's Word.

Now that we are reading this a maybe justifying our actions, let us review who we are celebrating in the first place because it's not a tree. We celebrate "Jesus", Son of the living God, creator of our faith, King of Kings, name over every name, place or thing. "Jesus", now the word tells us how He was born: Luke 2:7-14:

"and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

So He was born in Bethlehem. Lets look at the Weather report for today December 25, 2010:

Location: Ben Gurion International Airport
Distance: 28 mi from Bethlehem
Temperature: 48 °F
Comfort level: 48 °F
Dew point: 41 °F
Barometer: 30.07 "Hg
Humidity: 76%
Visibility: 10 mi
Wind: 1 mph from 0° North
Last update: Sun 5:50 AM EET

48 degrees and the shepherds living out in the fields nearby? in 40 degree weather. She wrapped Him in cloths and placed Him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. In 40 degree weather? Was Jesus born on December 25, or in December at all? Although it’s not impossible, it seems unlikely. The Bible does not specify a date or month. One problem with December is that it would be unusual for shepherds to be “abiding in the field” at this cold time of year when fields were unproductive. The normal practice was to keep the flocks in the fields from Spring to Autumn. Also, winter would likely be an especially difficult time for pregnant Mary to travel the long distance from Nazareth to Bethlehem (70 miles). The date of December 25, was chosen by the Roman Catholic Church. Because Rome dominated most of the “Christian” world for centuries, the date became tradition throughout most of Christendom.

As we tell ourselves that we are celebrating the birth of Him, who brings salvation to all, ask yourself this one question. December 25, 2010 was on a Saturday, how many Churches were closed and was yours on that special day. Next year while gathered with family, friends at the December 25, celebration become the life of the party and tell people that Christ Jesus, came for salvation. See how fast they throw you out. The message of the cross is foolishness for those that are being lost, but for us, it's the power of God.

We as believers don't celebrate a baby birth, but the Living God coming to bring us salvation: Revelation 1. So if you believe with all your heart and soul, that Jesus is Lord, and confess this truth with repentance you are on the road to understanding the true meaning a Christ birth.

May the Lord, continue to bless you with revelation.
